TRAI orders, not 28 customers should be given pre-paid recharge plans with full 30 days validity

PTI. Telecom Tariff 66th Amendment Order 2022:  The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has given a big decision in the interest of customers. TRAI has recently issued Telecom Tariff (66th Amendment) Order. Where Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) have been ordered to introduce recharge plans with a validity of 30 days instead of 28 days. According to the new order of TRAI, telecom companies will have to offer plans with a validity of 30 days within 60 days of the issuance of the notification. 

According to the new order of TRAI, every telecom company should offer at least one plan voucher, one special tariff voucher and one combo voucher, whose validity is 30 days instead of 28 days. If the customer wants to recharge these plans again, then they can do so from the date of the existing plan, there should be such a provision. 

28 days instead of 30 

Recently, users had filed a complaint that telecom companies do not give full recharge for a month. Telecom companies are offering plans with validity of 28 days instead of 30 days in a month, after which TRAI has decided to introduce recharge plans with validity of 30 days to telecom companies. 

Allegation of giving validity of short days

Actually there was a complaint that private telecom companies like Reliance Jio, Airtel and Vodafone-Idea (Vi) offer validity of 28 days instead of 30 to customers in the name of one month recharge. According to customers, by deducting 2 days every month, companies save about 28 days in a year. In this way, telecom companies recharge customers for 13 months instead of 12 in a year. Similarly, the validity of 54 or 56 days is available in the recharge of two months. Whereas the validity of 84 days is offered instead of 90 days in three months recharge.
