Xiaomi has announced a new technology that will enable smartphone users to charge their phones wirelessly from a distance. Called Mi Air Charge, the charging technology is a major step up to the prevalent wireless charging methods.

In what it calls a “true wireless charging” experience, the Mi Air Charge essentially enables remote energy transfer between the charger and the device to be charged, completely through air, much like the way a Wi-Fi works.
In a blog, Xiaomi explains that the core technology of Xiaomi’s remote charging lies in space positioning and energy transmission. At first, Xiaomi’s self-developed isolated charging pile with five phase built in interference antennas, accurately detects the location of the smartphone.
